Sculptra® Collagen Stimulator
Restore Your Skin’s Foundation
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable collagen stimulator that helps restore facial structure, improve skin firmness, and soften wrinkles gradually. Instead of creating immediate volume like a traditional dermal filler, Sculptra encourages your body to produce more of its own collagen.
The result is progressive, natural-looking rejuvenation that still looks like you—refreshed, firmer, and beautifully balanced.
What Is Sculptra?
Sculptra is an injectable treatment made with poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA-SCA. This biocompatible material works beneath the skin to stimulate natural collagen production and strengthen the skin’s underlying structure.
As collagen gradually rebuilds, patients may notice:
- Improved facial firmness
- Smoother lines and wrinkles
- Better skin quality and elasticity
- Restored facial structure
- More defined facial contours
- A refreshed, natural-looking appearance
What Can Sculptra Treat?
Sculptra may be used to improve:
- Cheek wrinkles and volume loss
- Smile lines, also called nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines around the mouth
- Chin wrinkles
- Lower-face laxity
- Overall facial firmness and skin quality
Sculptra is not intended for injection into the lips or under-eye area. For under-eye hollows, your Glo & Glam provider may recommend EZ Gel PRF or another appropriate treatment.
Sculptra vs. Traditional Filler
Traditional hyaluronic-acid fillers add immediate volume to a specific area. Sculptra works differently by gradually stimulating your own collagen production.
| Sculptra | Traditional Dermal Filler |
|---|---|
| Stimulates natural collagen production | Adds immediate volume |
| Results develop gradually | Results are visible immediately |
| Best for broader facial rejuvenation | Best for targeted contouring |
| May last up to two years | Longevity varies by product and area |
| Cannot be dissolved | Many hyaluronic-acid fillers can be dissolved |
Your provider may recommend Sculptra, traditional filler, or a combination plan depending on your anatomy and goals.
What to Expect
Your Consultation
Your Glo & Glam provider will evaluate your facial structure, skin quality, medical history, and aesthetic goals. We will then develop a personalized treatment plan, including the recommended number of sessions and vials.
Your Treatment
Sculptra is carefully injected into targeted areas of the face. The appointment generally takes 45–60 minutes, depending on the treatment plan.
You may notice temporary fullness immediately after treatment. Much of this initial volume comes from the sterile water used to prepare Sculptra and will decrease as swelling settles. Your true results develop gradually as new collagen forms.
When Will I See Results?
Sculptra is designed for gradual improvement rather than an immediate transformation. Some patients begin noticing changes within approximately one month, with continued improvement over several months.
A typical treatment plan includes two to three sessions spaced at least three to four weeks apart. The number of treatments and vials needed varies based on age, facial structure, collagen loss, and desired results.
Results may be sustained for up to two years. Individual results vary, and maintenance treatments may be recommended.
Sculptra Aftercare
Your provider will give you personalized aftercare instructions. Unless otherwise directed, follow the 5-5-5 massage rule:
- Massage the treated areas for five minutes
- Five times each day
- For five consecutive days
You should also:
- Avoid strenuous exercise for approximately 24 hours
- Avoid excessive heat and sun exposure until swelling and redness resolve
- Avoid rubbing the area except when performing the recommended massage
- Wait several hours before applying makeup, provided there are no complications
Is There Downtime?
Most patients return to their usual activities shortly after treatment. Temporary side effects may include:
- Swelling
- Redness
- Tenderness
- Bruising
- Itching
- Injection-site discomfort
Small lumps beneath the skin and larger delayed-onset nodules have also been reported. Proper treatment technique and adherence to aftercare instructions are important for minimizing risks.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
Sculptra may be appropriate for adults who:
- Have gradual facial volume or collagen loss
- Want natural-looking, progressive improvement
- Prefer comprehensive rejuvenation over isolated filling
- Want to improve facial firmness and skin quality
- Understand that results develop over time
Sculptra should not be used in patients with an allergy to its ingredients or a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. Treatment should be postponed when an active infection, rash, cyst, pimple, or inflammatory condition is present in the treatment area.
The safety of Sculptra has not been established during pregnancy or breastfeeding or in patients younger than 18.
Combining Sculptra With EZ Gel PRF
Sculptra and EZ Gel PRF may complement each other as part of a customized facial rejuvenation plan.
Sculptra supports broader collagen restoration and facial structure, while EZ Gel PRF may provide subtle rejuvenation in delicate areas such as the under-eyes. The products are not mixed together and may be scheduled during separate appointments based on your provider’s recommendations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Sculptra a filler?
Sculptra is commonly grouped with injectable fillers, but it works differently. It is a collagen stimulator that helps your body gradually rebuild its underlying facial support.
Does Sculptra provide immediate results?
Temporary fullness may be visible immediately because of the liquid used to prepare the product. This subsides within several days. Your actual results develop gradually as collagen production increases.
How many treatments will I need?
Most patients receive two to three sessions over several months. Your personalized plan may vary based on your anatomy, treatment goals, and response.
How long does Sculptra last?
Clinical results may be sustained for up to two years. Longevity varies by patient, and periodic maintenance may be recommended.
Can Sculptra be used under the eyes or in the lips?
No. Sculptra should not be injected into the lips or under-eye area. Glo & Glam offers other treatments that may be more appropriate for these delicate areas.
Can Sculptra be dissolved?
No. Unlike hyaluronic-acid filler, Sculptra cannot be dissolved. Choosing an appropriately trained and licensed injector is essential.
When should I schedule Sculptra?
Because improvement develops gradually, we recommend beginning treatment several months before a wedding, reunion, or other important event.
